Oxford United are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Jack Payne in the four one victory over Peterborough United at the weekend at London Road was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Payne was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Oxford pulled off an eye-catching 4-1 victory at high-flying Peterborough United on Saturday afternoon, and Payne was the architect of the Posh`s downfall. Setting up the first three, he almost added a deserved goal for himself late on, but his effort was parried into the path of Agon Mehmeti, who made no mistake in adding the gloss.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Payne for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Mark Oxley (Southend United), Ethan Ebanks-Landell (MK Dons), Matt Preston (Swindon Town), Nathaniel Knight-Percival (Bradford City), Kamil Grosicki (Hull City), Tariqe Fosu (Charlton Athletic), Jack Payne (Oxford United), James Maddison (Norwich City), Ivan Cavaleiro (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Danny Rose (Mansfield Town), Jayden Stockley (Exeter City).

Manager – Leonid Slutsky (Hull City).
