Oxford United striker Matty Taylor has been nominated for the League One Player of the Month for December.

The 31-year-old has been in prolific form this season, reaching 12 goals before the turn of the new year, including four goals in five games last month.

His strikes helped the U’s earn ten points in December, moving the club up to fifth in the League One table.

It began with an equaliser at Sunderland before scoring another equaliser in a 2-1 win at MK Dons. His other efforts came in a 3-2 defeat against Wigan and a 3-0 victory over AFC Wimbledon.

Taylor is the club’s most recent winner of the award, claiming the prize in February 2020 after scoring seven times. He is also the second U’s player to be nominated this season after James Henry in August.

The striker is up against Rotherham midfielder Dan Barlaser, Charlton shot-stopper Craig MacGillivray and Alex Pritchard of Sunderland.
