The U's Matchzone

Preview: League One – Oxford United vs Bristol Rovers

|

Oxford United play their first match in 11 days as the U’s welcome Bristol Rovers in League One.

Oxford’s last fixture was a 1-0 win over Cambridge United in the Football League Trophy, while their last league game came three weeks ago with a 5-1 win at Burton Albion.

During that time, the U’s have seen league games against Doncaster Rovers and Northampton Town postponed.

Despite the lack of game time, Karl Robinson’s side head into the game unbeaten in nine in all competitions, winning their last five in succession.

As for The Gas, they’ve lost their last four games in all competitions. As a result, Paul Tisdale’s side are 19th in the table and just one point clear of the bottom four.

Rovers welcome new signing George Williamson who arrived from Tisdale’s former club, MK Dons. The right-back could feature but Erhun Otzumer and Sam Nicholson are both doubts through injury.

Brandon Hanlon is the visitors’ top scorer with eight goals, while James Daly has scored five and provided four assists. Nicholson, who is a doubt to play, has also added six. Despite their top scorers, only three sides in League One have scored fewer this season.

Oxford have a poor record against Bristol Rovers. The U’s are winless in their last five meetings and have won just twice in the last 13 games against the Gas.

Predicted line-up: Jack Stevens, Josh Ruffels, Rob Atkinson, Elliott Moore, Sam Long, Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, Cameron Brannagan, Marcus McGuane, Mide Shodipo, James Henry, Matty Taylor.

Prediction: Oxford United 1-1 Bristol Rovers
