Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham are eyeing up a potential move for Oxford goalkeeper, James Beadle, according to The Star.

The 19-year-old is on a season-long loan from Brighton and has put in a string of positive displays, including keeping nine clean sheets in 24 appearances.

The Owls are said to be in the market for a new shot-stopper as they look to avoid an immediate return to League One. The report adds that Championship rivals Birmingham are also keen on the England U20 international.

While he is playing well in a promotion-chasing side, the Seagulls may be looking to send him on loan to a second-tier club for the second half of the season.

Should Beadle depart in the January transfer window, it would leave Des Buckingham with Simon Eastwood, who recently signed a new deal, and Ed McGinty, with the latter yet to make an appearance for the club this season.
