Oxford United are one of four clubs that are targeting Brentford winger, Michael Olakigbe, according to Football Insider.

The 19-year-old, who made his Premier League debut earlier this season, has made eight appearances in the top flight so far.

However, the report claims that Thomas Frank is looking to offload the winger to a club in the Football League to help his development.

Championship clubs Swansea and Blackburn, along with the U’s and Derby from League One, are believed to be showing an interest in the former Fulham man.

The youngster, who has also represented England at U20 level, played 27 times for Brentford’s B team and helped them win the Premier League Cup.

Oxford are in need of wingers following the recall of loanees Stanley Mills and Kyle Edwards, while Marcus Browne could be sidelined through injury for a further three months.

The U’s have signed Tyler Burey and will welcome back Josh Murphy from injury in the coming weeks, but depth in that position is something Des Buckingham will be looking to bolster.

Brentford have previous with Oxford. The Bees signed U’s duo Shandon Baptiste and Tariqe Fosu back in 2020, while Wales U21 international Fin Stevens is currently on loan from the Premier League outfit.
