Oxford United are one of several clubs chasing Notts County star, Ruben Rodrigues, according to Football Insider.

The 26-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the month, is also a target for Championship outfit Cardiff, along with League One rivals Derby, Portsmouth and Barnsley.

The midfielder has been offered a new deal by the National League playoff winners but interest from clubs higher in the pyramid have tempted him with a move away.

Rodrigues was a key player for the Magpies as they clinched promotion to League Two, with the striker scoring 19 goals and adding 15 assists in the league. The season before, he scored 20 times and laid on a further nine assists from 45 appearances.

Following that spell, the striker was subject to interest from elsewhere but the Magpies managed to keep hold of him for the campaign.

It is a position the U’s are in desperate need to cover, following the release of Matty Taylor and return to their parent clubs from loanees Kyle Joseph and Tyler Smith respectively. Youngster Gatlin O’Donkor is currently the club’s only recognised striker.
