Oxford United are close to signing Oxford-born midfielder, Josh McEachran, according to BBC Radio Oxford.

The 30-year-old, who worked under U’s head coach Liam Manning at MK Dons, was released by the Buckinghamshire club at the end of the season following their relegation into League Two.

The former Chelsea youngster will be available on a free transfer and could follow Ruben Rodrigues and Jordan Thorniley through the door this week.

McEachran has also represented England at various youth levels from U16 to U21, where he won the Victory Shield in 2007 and the UEFA European U17 Championship in 2010.

The midfielder has spent much of his career in the Championship and also turned out 90 times for Brentford in the second tier following his release from Stamford Bridge.

McEachran joined MK Dons in March 2021 and made 100 appearances for the club over two and a half seasons.
