U’s boss Karl Robinson told the Oxford Mail: “Woody’s seeing a specialist tomorrow and the worst-case scenario would be three months, but it could be a lot less than that.

“I think it’s the fifth metatarsal that he’s fractured. He was the catalyst to a lot of our good play this season.

“If you look over recent weeks we didn’t have him at Fleetwood and we looked way below par.

“He came off on Saturday and we looked a little bit below par, so it’s a big loss.”

Anthony Forde replaced Woodburn, who came off after just 16 minutes, but the winger also picked up a groin injury on Saturday when he slipped on the pitch and was also replaced before the break.

Forde is due for a scan this afternoon, but Robinson admitted it “doesn’t look great.”

The U’s have lost three midfielders in recent weeks, with George Thorne and Jamie Hanson also both ruled out for the next three months.

Robinson will also be without Shandon Baptiste this weekend when the U’s welcome Doncaster Rovers, as he is away on international duty.
