Jodi Jones and Oisin Smyth look set to leave the club on loan, confirms U’s boss Karl Robinson.

Jones, who trained with the club throughout pre-season, has managed just 50 minutes of football so far, while Smyth has turned out once.

Speaking to the Oxford Mail, Robinson said: “He (Jones) was a very low-risk option, we just feel because he’s not played for so long he’s going to go on loan.

“If we play him tonight (against Leyton Orient in the Football League Trophy) and he gets two or three minutes, that could be two games he misses out on if he goes on loan to this level.

“It’s the same with Oisin, this is a competition where he could get more minutes.

“Jodi Jones needs to play between now and Christmas and then we’ll assess where he’s at.

“He was always one you signed as a back-up to certain situations.

“We feel him and Oisin are ones who will have to go out on loan and then come back in January to see where they’re at.”
