U’s Lose Top Scorer For January

|

Oxford United have received bad news after it emerged that James Henry could be sidelined for the rest of January.

The U’s top scorer, who had been suffering from a thigh problem during December, looks like the strain could be a tear, ruling him out for longer than expected.

The U’s were hopeful that after resting him against Hartlepool United last week that the 30-year-old would return against Rotherham United this weekend, but that seems highly unlikely.

Boss Karl Robinson believes it would be better to rest the player for as long as needed, rather than rushing him back as he previously did in the defeat at Doncaster.

He told the Oxford Mail: “Jamo’s got a small tear in his thigh.

“He did it at the back end of the Doncaster game (on New Year’s Day) and that could be four weeks possibly.

“We have to make sure we get that 100 per cent right.”

Despite losing Henry, the U’s will welcome back Cameron Brannagan and Simon Eastwood from their respected injuries ahead of this weekends game against the Millers.
