Scott Shearer, 36 a 6ft 3 goalkeeper has been signed by Oxford United on a one year contract with an option of a further year.

Born in Glasgow he started of in 2000 with Scottish 3rd Division side Albion Rovers he played 53 matches scoring his only goal at Hampden Park, which was an equalising goal against Queen’s Park.

In 2003 he signed for Coventry City and has also played for Rushden & Diamonds, Bristol Rovers, Shrewsbury Town, Wycombe Wanderers, Wrexham, Crawley Town, Rotherham United, Crewe Alexandra, Burton Albion and since 2015 Mansfield Town.

In total he has played 398 in all competitions, last season he played in 30 matches keeping 7 clean sheets.

In December 2003 he was capped with the Scotland B team coming on as a 2nd half substitute for Graig Gordon. In the 61st minute he saved a penalty but unfortunately the rebound was slotted home resulting in the match finishing 1-1.
