News in the north east is that OUFC are interested in taking Freddie Woodman on a season long loan from Premiership Newcastle United.

Freddie is the son of former Oxford United stopper Andy Woodman, who is also a goalkeeping coach at St. James Park.

Such is the potential of the big shot-stopper; he was signed on a long-term deal by the Magpies in early 2014.

Newcastle want Woodman to stay at St James` Park, but the young keeper will be tempted by interest from other teams in the Barclays Premier League. Southampton and Arsenal are rumoured to be interested.

However with Sam Slocombe, Ryan Clarke and Max Crocombe as senior goalkeepers at the club any move by the U’s does appear a little unlikely.
