Oxford United midfielder Cameron Brannagan has emerged as a transfer target for two Championship clubs, according to Football Insider.
Millwall, who saw a bid for the 24-year-old rejected in January, and Preston North End are leading the race to sign the U’s midfielder, according to the report.
Despite missing a large part of the campaign with a rare eye infection, Brannagan has once again been of the club’s key players this season as the U’s look to achieve a top-six finish.
The midfielder has scored twice from 36 appearances this season, taking his total Oxford outings to 140 since his arrival from Liverpool in January 2018.
Brannagan only signed a new two-year deal at the start of the season, meaning the 24-year-old is under contract at Grenoble Road until 2023.
Manager Karl Robinson also confirmed back in February that the club have inserted a buyout clause in his new contract. It came after the U’s rejected a bid thought to be in the region of £500,000 from Millwall in January, with Robinson admitting that it’s “significantly higher than that.”
