Oxford United have identified current Charlton manager Dean Holden as an option to replace Karl Robinson, according to reports.
The 43-year-old, whose contract expires in the summer, has made a positive start to life at the Valley.
Now, the U’s, who have suffered eight defeats in their last nine league games, could look to swoop in and bring him to the club.
However, the Addicks are looking to extend his current deal, but ongoing conjecture over Charlton’s ownership has left negotiations at a standstill.
Assistant coach Scott Marshall left the club last week and although Holden has “maintained harmony among the playing staff”, he may be looking for something more secure.
The former Bristol City manager, who is regarded as a young and bright-thinking coach, has experience in the Championship – a division Oxford’s new owners are keen to establish themselves in.
It is his reputation that has seen him linked with second-tier jobs despite only being with the South London club since December.
