It’s been a Wild 4 years since 21st Dec 2008

On the 21st December 2008 Oxford United announced the appointment of Chris Wilder as their new manager.

Taking over with the team just above the relegation zone he took the team on an amazing 2nd half to the season where he only just missed out on a play-off place in the Blue Square Premiership.

Chris’s first full season in charge of Oxford began just as the last had finished off and by mid-season they were sitting top of the Conference table by five points with a game in hand! However, a blip in form saw them knocked off the automatic promotion place, consigning the Us to the playoffs with Luton Town, Rushden & Diamonds and York City. They defeated Rushden & Diamonds to reach the play-off final, and gained promotion to the Football League by beating York City 3-1.

The first season back in the Football League after a four year break, he guided Oxford to safety with a placing of 12th.

The next season Oxford finished ninth, after poor form due to injuries to key players late in the season led to the team dropping out of the play-off position they had occupied for most of the year.

It brings us to this season the injury list just keeps growing with new players added to the list currently the U’s sit in 18th. But any U’s fan will know that 2012 has not be a good year for the manager with him playing those players that are the fittest.
