Oxford United will be looking to secure back to back wins when Karl Robinson’s side travel to bottom club Gillingham.

The U’s saw off promotion rivals Sheffield Wednesday last time out – a result which ended a winless start to the new year.

Meanwhile, the Gills lost 3-2 at league leaders Wigan last weekend, despite coming from two goals down at the DW Stadium, and played out a goalless draw against Shrewsbury in the week. Those results mean the Kent club are without a win in 16 matches in all competitions, losing ten.

Oxford will assess the fitness of Elliott Moore and James Henry ahead of the game but Ryan Williams and Gavin Whyte could return. Herbie Kane is also absent as he serves the third of his three-game ban. Jordan Thorniley is unavailable after Blackpool recalled the defender from his loan spell.

For Gillingham, Dan Adshead is injured along with former Oxford midfielder Alex MacDonald, who netted when the sides played out a 1-1 draw back in September.

Vadaine Oliver is the hosts top scorer with six while Danny Lloyd and Robbie McKenzie have added three goals each. Matty Taylor took his tally to 14 in all competitions with his brace against Wednesday last time out.

The Gills are the second lowest-scoring team in the division with just 21 goals from 26 games. They have also managed just three wins and have the worst home record in League One with just nine points picked up.

Oxford are winless at Priestfield in their last four matches, losing two and drawing the other two. The last six meetings between the two sides have also produced two wins each.

Predicted line-up: Jack Stevens, Steve Seddon, Luke McNally, Elliott Moore, Sam Long, Cameron Brannagan, Marcus McGuane, James Henry, Gavin Whyte, James Henry, Matty Taylor.

Prediction: Gillingham 0-4 Oxford United
