League One Preview: Oxford United v Sheffield Wednesday – Team News, Form and Prediction

|

Oxford United will be looking to build on back-to-back draws under Liam Manning when league leaders Sheffield Wednesday visit Grenoble Road.

The U’s picked up a point at Morecambe under the new manager before seeing out a goalless draw at Peterborough last time out.

As for Wednesday, they are currently on a run of five games without a win, picking up just one point from their last three matches on the road. However, Darren Moore’s side had won 11 of the previous 12 league fixtures, with the other match ending in a draw.

Oxford have no new injury concerns ahead of the game despite a late scare surrounding Marcus Browne.

The league leaders are without Michael Ihiekwe, Ben Heneghan, Jack Hunt, George Byers and top scorer, Josh Windass.

Wednesday are the league’s joint second-highest scoring side and they also boast the division’s joint best defence. They also have the second-best away record in League One this season, picking up 35 points on the road.

The U’s picked up a point in the reverse fixture despite missing a last-minute penalty. Oxford also won this meeting last season thanks to a late winner from Sam Winnall.

Predicted line-up: Simon Eastwood, Ciaron Brown, Stuart Findlay, Elliott Moore, Sam Long, Marcus McGuane, Cameron Brannagan, Marcus Browne, Yanic Wildschut, Josh Murphy, Kyle Joseph.

Prediction: Oxford United 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday
