Left-Back Loaned Out

Oxford United left-back Kevin Berkoe has joined Oxford City on a short term loan deal.

The 18-year-old, who arrived from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer, will be available for City this weekend as they face Hornchurch in an FA Trophy match.

He will join up with U’s striker Kyran Lofthouse, who also joined the National League South side last week, scoring on his debut.

The full-back, who was signed in the summer with the assumption of playing for the Under 23 squad, has featured three times for the U’s first-team this season.

Berkoe played against Norwich Under 23’s in the EFL Trophy but made his Oxford debut as a substitute in the League Cup first-round win over Peterborough United. The youngster then played the full 90 minutes as the U’s saw off Championship opponents Millwall in the second round of the same competition.

One concern with Berkoe being loaned out, albeit short term, is that U’s boss Karl Robinson conceded in the week that his squad is short on the left side of the defence, particularly after Josh Ruffels has just returned from injury.
