Mickey Lewis, 52 or Mad dog as he was known in his playing days joined Oxford United in 1988 after starting his career with WBA before joining Derby Co.

However the Birmingham born Mickey has one club running through him after being associated with Oxford United for 27 years.

He made 350 appearances as a player for the yellows scoring 7 goals. It was his not stop 100% approach to games. A ball winner who do everything to win the ball back from the opposition.

With many fond memories of his playing time in a yellow shirt, trying to mark Paul Gascoigne at Tottenham or being part of a make shift back three away at Everton where the U’s won 1-0 thanks to a Joey Beauchamp goal.

But it is Mickey’s last game for the U’s which epitomises the man so well where he replaced Pal Lundin in goal.

After hanging up his boots he went on to nearly every job behind the scenes being Youth team manager, assistant manager and even caretaker manager of the 1st team.

So the question should be why has Mickey not had a testimonial with the yellows?
