Oxford United are closing in on the signing of Millwall forward, Tyler Burey, according to Alan Nixon.

The 22-year-old, who joined the Lions in 2019, has gone on to make 58 appearances for the Championship club, including 24 this season, where he scored once and added one assist.

Capable of playing anywhere across the front line, his versatility could come in handy for the U’s, who struggled for goals this term.

Last week, a report in the South London Press claimed that Gary Rowett’s side had accepted a bid from a top League One for the forward. Now, it appears that the club is Oxford.

Liam Manning has already seen three new arrivals in the shape of Ruben Rodrigues, Jordan Thorniley and Josh McEachran. However, unlike Burey, the trio have all arrived on a free transfer following the expiry of their respective contracts.

It is unclear of the fee that Oxford will pay Millwall at this time but that could become clear should the deal progress.
