Oxford United start their new regime under Des Buckingham with a trip to Cheltenham.

The Oxford-born head coach left his role at Mumbai City to join the U’s last week, replacing Liam Manning.

Under the caretaker management of Chris Short, Oxford picked up two wins, including last time out against Leyton Orient, and are now unbeaten in five.

The Robins, who sit 23rd in League One and already eight points from safety, are on a patchy run and have just one win from their last five games in all competitions. However, they are unbeaten in their last three home league games.

Sam Long is Oxford’s most recent absentee while Kyle Edwards and Marcus Browne are close to a return. Liam Smith and Elliot Bonds are doubtful for the hosts.

Cheltenham have found goals hard to come by, with former Oxford midfielder Liam Sercombe one of four players to net twice this season.

Oxford are unbeaten in their last three meetings against the Robins, including a 2-1 victory in this fixture last season. A 4-0 win at home also secured Oxford’s League One status last season.

Predicted line-up: James Beadle, Greg Leigh, Ciaron Brown, Elliott Moore, Fin Stevens, Marcus McGuane, Cameron Brannagan, Billy Bodin, Ruben Rodrigues, Stanley Mills, Mark Harris.

Prediction: Cheltenham Town 0-3 Oxford United
