Oxford United will be looking to bounce back from their recent defeat at Lincoln when the U’s travel to fellow promotion hopefuls Wycombe.

The loss at Sincil Bank was a first defeat on the road in three months for the U’s, meaning they missed the opportunity to move up to third in League One.

As for Wycombe, they played out an entertaining 3-3 draw against Sunderland at the weekend before a 2-0 win at Bolton on Tuesday night. As a result, the Chairboys have lost just once in their last nine league games.

Nick Freeman, Dominic Gape and Sullay Kaikai all missed Wycombe’s win at Bolton and remain doubtful for the visit of the U’s. Former Oxford defender Jordan Obita has scored once and laid on four assists this season for the Chairboys. Sam Vokes is their top scorer with eight while Garath McCleary has six goals and five assists.

Oxford could be without Cameron Brannagan through injury but Jordan Thorniley could return on defence, while Herbie Kane starts his three-game ban following his red card against Lincoln.

The two teams played out a stale goalless draw earlier in the season, which was their first meeting since the U’s lost in the League One play-off final in 2020.

Predicted line-up: Simon Eastwood, Steve Seddon, Jordan Thorniley, Elliott Moore, Sam Long, James Henry, Marcus McGuane, Mark Sykes, Ryan Williams, Gavin Whyte, Matty Taylor.

Prediction: Wycombe Wanderers 1-1 Oxford United
