Huddersfield Town are one of ‘several clubs’ keeping an eye on Oxford midfielder Mark Sykes, according to Football Insider.

The 24-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer, is enjoying his best season to date with the U’s, having netted eight times, including four from his last six.

As a result, the Terriers, who also snapped up former U’s defender Josh Ruffels upon the expiration of his contract last summer, are the frontrunners in signing the former Glenavon midfielder but multiple clubs are also interested.

Sykes has made 117 appearances since his arrival at Oxford in January 2019, scoring 11 times and adding 16 assists.

The midfielder has previously stated that he’d like to stay with the club but admitted that January is “massive” when it comes to his footballing future.

He is one of nine senior players out of contract in the summer while the U’s are also at risk of losing Cameron Brannagan, with Blackpool showing significant interest in recent weeks.
