Preview: Carabao Cup – Oxford United vs Peterborough United

|

Oxford United will be looking to make it back to back wins against Peterborough United as the Posh return to the Kassam Stadium following their 1-0 defeat on Saturday.

The U’s have made a solid start to their League One campaign, picking up four points including a draw at Sunderland.

“To perform like that against two of the better teams you’ve got to be looking at the top six as a goal for the team.”

Anthony Forde – Oxford Mail

Karl Robinson will be hoping his side can take those impressive performances in tonights Carabao Cup first-round clash. The U’s made it to the third round last season before losing to eventual winners, Manchester City, whilst the Posh haven’t made it to the third round since the 2013/14 season.

Both sides will be looking to make changes. Peterborough have lost their opening two league matches for the first time since 2012, so it’s likely a couple of fresh faces could feature.

“You want to perform well because if you don’t then it could be three or four weeks before you get back on the pitch.”

Jamie Hanson – Oxford Mail

As for the U’s, winger Anthony Forde could make his full debut after coming on as a late substitute in their league win against the Posh, whilst Elliott Moore could also make his first start at the back. Jamie Hanson looks likely to feature, but Dan Agyei is unlikely following his move to the club on Saturday.

Predicted line-up: Simon Eastwood, Sam Long, Rob Dickie, Elliott Moore, Josh Ruffels, Jamie Hanson, Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, Tariqe Fosu, Ben Woodburn, Anthony Forde, Jamie Mackie.

Prediction: Oxford United 1-0 Peterborough United
