Preview: League One – AFC Wimbledon vs Oxford United

|

Oxford United face their first away game in three when they travel to AFC Wimbledon this Sunday.

The U’s lost in their previous game on the road at struggling MK Dons, and although they suffered defeat against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, Karl Robinson’s side have recorded back to back 1-0 wins against Wycombe Wanderers and Lincoln City respectively.

Despite being a lowly 18th in League One and just three points clear of the drop, the Dons have lost just once in their last five league games and head into this game on the back of a 2-1 win at Bristol Rovers.

Shandon Baptiste netted his first-ever league goal against Lincoln, while top scorer James Henry netted the winner against Wycombe.

Matty Taylor has registered nine goals, Tariqe Fosu has eight, while Cameron Brannagan has provided seven.

For Dons, Finland Under-21 forward Marcus Forss has netted eleven goals in just fifteen appearances while on loan from Brentford, while Kwesi Appiah has scored three and a handful of players have scored two.

Defensively, only sides below them in the table have conceded more goals, but right-back Luke O’Neill is one of those players to score twice while adding four assists.

In previous meetings, the U’s won their first six encounters against the Dons and went ten games unbeaten, winning eight, but have won just once from their last six meetings, losing on four occasions.

Predicted line-up: Jordan Archer, Josh Ruffels, John Mousinho, Elliott Moore, Sam Long, Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, Cameron Brannagan, Mark Sykes, Rob Hall, James Henry, Jamie Mackie.

Prediction: AFC Wimbledon 1-2 Oxford United
