The U's News

Robinson Aiming For Double Swoop

|

Following the signing of Ben Woodburn yesterday, U’s boss Karl Robinson is hoping to land another two signings in the next 24 hours.

Sky Sports have reported that Leicester City centre back Elliott Moore will agree on a permanent deal at Oxford, whilst rumours are circulating regarding Burnley striker Dan Agyei, who could also join the U’s.

22-year-old Moore has been playing for Belgian second division side OH Leuven, and will arrive for an undisclosed fee whilst Agyei, also 22-years-old, will join from Burnley on a permanent deal.

Moore has had a prolific two seasons in Belgium. From 61 appearances, the 6ft 5in defender has also found the net on seven occasions. The Belgian side is owned by King Power, who also owns his parent club Leicester City, but despite strong performances, a return to England could benefit the player.

Moore also has international experience with England, making one appearance for the under 18’s and two for the under 20’s.

Agyei looks likely to join the U’s on a permanent deal after failing to establish himself at Burnley. The forward came through the ranks at AFC Wimbledon where he scored 35 goals for the under 21 side.

As a result, numerous Premier League clubs were interested in the youngster, but he opted for a move to The Clarets where he has only managed three appearances since 2015.

Agyei has spent time away on loan. He scored four from 16 at Coventry City, four from 18 at Walsall and failed to score in nine appearances at Blackpool.

Following the departure of Curtis Nelson to Cardiff City, the U’s have needed a replacement. Moore is physical in the air but is also quick, similar to Nelson in many ways. The other area Robinson needed to strengthen was upfront, and despite not quite hitting the heights while on loan, Agyei will hope to rekindle his goalscoring record prior to his move to Burnley.
