Oxford United are hoping to extend the loan contract of Liam Kelly from Feyenoord ahead of the League One playoffs.

The 24-year-old is the final loan player yet to renew his deal, with Matty Taylor, Marcus Browne and Ben Woodburn having done so already.

Meanwhile, U’s boss Karl Robinson has been impressed with Kelly since the squad returned to training, and is hoping to turn his loan move from the Dutch side into a permanent one.

He told the Oxford Mail: “We are about to agree an extension. If I took a picture of him now people would ask who it was. He’s the Liam Kelly we saw at Reading.

“I’m desperate to keep him around the place if he keeps doing what he’s been doing. He’s some player.”

Kelly joined the U’s from Feyenoord in January but has struggled got game time due to lack of match fitness and injury. The former Reading man has played four times – scoring once in the FA Cup fourth-round replay against Newcastle United – but has appeared for just 114 minutes across those games.
