Oxford United defender Steve Seddon has joined League One rivals Burton Albion on a season-long loan.

The 25-year-old, who is out of contract next summer, made 58 appearances for the club, where he scored four goals, since joining from Birmingham City for an undisclosed fee in July 2021.

Most of those appearances came in his first season but he appeared to fall out of favour under previous boss Karl Robinson towards the back end of the campaign.

The full-back then began last season as the club’s first choice left back but Ciaron Brown took the role, before Seddon was sent on loan to Cambridge in January.

He follows fellow defender Stuart Findlay out of the door after the centre-back joined Kilmarnock earlier today.

Following the arrival of Jordan Thorniley, head coach Liam Manning has two left-sided centre-backs that can also cover as a left-sided full-back.

However, the U’s manager may also be looking to bring in another full-back before the start of the new campaign.
