Oxford United have made their third signing of the January transfer window after Marcus Browne rejoined the club from Middlesbrough.
The former West Ham United man spent last season on loan with the U’s and scored nine goals and provided five assists in 44 appearances in all competitions for Karl Robinson’s side.
And although many fans were hopeful of keeping hold of the 22-year-old this season, the winger moved to the Championship side instead, where he has only managed five starts from 14 appearances in all competitions.
Speaking on his move, Browne told the clubs official website: “Middlesbrough are a fantastic club and I’m enjoying my time there but as soon as I knew it was a possibility I loved the idea of coming back here because everyone – the Gaffer, the staff, the players and the fans -made me feel so welcome at Oxford last season.
“The club is in a great position and I can’t wait to be involved and hopefully be part of the club’s success this season.”
Karl Robinson added: “You could see the smiles on the players’ faces this morning when Marcus came back into the building.
“He is such a talent and gives us so many options in attack. He knows the lads, he knows how we like to play and we feel like we have done some really good work already in this Transfer Window.”
Browne teams up with fellow new signing Nathan Holland – who he spent time with while at West Ham – and Liam Kelly, who both joined yesterday.
