U’s Target Celtic Full-Back

|

Oxford United have targeted Celtic defender Lee O’Connor as a potential transfer target, as reported by the Glasgow Times.

The 19-year-old, who is yet to play for Neil Lennon’s side, came through the ranks at Manchester United before joining the Hoops in the summer.

A loan move would be beneficial for both parties. Celtic have two or three players ahead of the youngster at Parkhead, while the U’s remain in the hunt for a full-back.

O’Connor can play anywhere across the back four but favours the right. The U’s are short in both full-back positions after Chris Cadden was recalled from his loan spell by Columbus Crew.

The youngster has made one senior Republic of Ireland appearance but has made 38 appearances at various youth levels.

Karl Robinson has already brought in four news faces during this window, with Nathan Holland, Liam Kelly and Marcus Browne all arriving on loan, before the U’s signed Eastleigh defender Rob Atkinson.
