Oxford United are lining up a return for former striker Danny Hylton, according to Football League World.

The 32-year-old joined the U’s in 2014 and ended his first season at the club as the top scorer with 16 goals in all competitions.

The following season, Hylton netted in the Football League Trophy final defeat against Barnsley but also won promotion to League One under Michael Appleton.

He rejected a new deal before joining Luton Town, having scored 30 times from 101 Oxford appearances.

Hylton is still at Kenilworth Road but his contract expires in the summer and an Oxford return could be on the cards for the striker.

The U’s remain in the hunt for a striker after the club sold Dan Agyei to Crewe Alexandra, with recent links to Jermain Defoe, Louis Appere and Cole Stockton all going quiet.

Hylton has netted once from five Championship appearances for the Hatters this season and has 59 in 154 outings for the Bedfordshire club.
